Laura’s Miscellaneous Musings has so many interesting regular features. Her weekly link lists are always full of fascinating bits, she seems to review every movie she sees—and very well, and she writes great informational posts on the sorts of things classic movie fans obsess about like instant streaming and TCM schedules. I sometimes find it hard to believe all this great content is coming from one woman. Thanks for being a guest linker Laura!
-------------------------- Robby Cress has an excellent blog, Dear Old Hollywood, which regularly features "then and now" research on classic film locations in and around Los Angeles. Last weekend Robby shared his experience seeing Ben Mankiewicz interview 94-year-old Ernest Borgnine at a TCM "Road to Hollywood" screening of FROM HERE TO ETERNITY (1953) at the Egyptian Theatre in Hollywood. Videos of the event are included!
Dick Van Dyke's autobiography, MY LUCKY LIFE IN AND OUT OF SHOW BUSINESS: A MEMOIR will be released on May 3rd. The 85-year-old Van Dyke isn't taking it easy: he and brother Jerry starred in a stage production of THE SUNSHINE BOYS in Malibu earlier this month. Opening night sold out!
Leonard Maltin pays a personal centennial tribute to the late filmmaker Ronald Neame at Leonard Maltin's Movie Crazy. Neame, who passed away last June, would have turned 100 on April 23rd.
I enjoy visiting Kevin's Movie Corner, where this week he reviewed DEMETRIUS AND THE GLADIATORS (1954), a sequel to THE ROBE (1953). Kevin's post includes a couple of nice anecdotes about the film's star, Victor Mature.
A site I've recently discovered and enjoyed, thanks to the excellent blog 50 Westerns From the 50s, is Western Clippings. The Western Clippings site includes a great index of interviews with a variety of actresses who appeared in Westerns. There are wonderful stories told by Paula Raymond, Jacqueline White, Kristine Miller, Faith Domergue, Joan Leslie, and many more. It's a site worth bookmarking and revisiting.
Thank you so much for the very nice words, KC, I appreciate it immensely! It's very encouraging to get positive feedback from a blogger I admire and enjoy.
ReplyDeleteThanks again for asking me, and best wishes to you on the upcoming birth!
