When I was a kid, my dad had a sci-fi book called City where ants become similarly powerful, so this idea has been freaking me out for a long time. Thanks for the heads up re: watching it on its own terms.

You know, I have never really trusted ants. Yes, they are small, but they are clever, and as a team they can accomplish amazing things, as you pointed out.

Great review!Silver Screeningshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04955048716754142299noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7084289080318419411.post-11763959709361278542016-06-20T12:04:52.409-07:002016-06-20T12:04:52.409-07:00Wow. I don't think I would have liked it as well as I did the first time if I hadn't seen it in a theater with that crazy ending. Thanks for thinking up such a great blogathon theme.

Dick--I was so excited when that Olive release came out, because I felt certain it would have the alternate ending after it had made the rounds in KChttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17587905976811500791noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7084289080318419411.post-91420308525405933472016-06-19T16:51:40.555-07:002016-06-19T16:51:40.555-07:00First saw this on TV during hot summer afternoon s...First saw this on TV during hot summer afternoon sometime in the late 70's and have never forgotten it. It's one of those that seems to grow on you more and more with each viewing.
I hope that we can get the alternate ending released on home video at some point (too bad it could have been worked out for the Olive blu-ray release)Dick https://www.blogger.com/profile/00409849079342411514noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7084289080318419411.post-48488689108450364892016-06-18T19:59:53.840-07:002016-06-18T19:59:53.840-07:00Excellent review! It's a reminder that good science fiction is about ideas, not elaborate special effects (although the amazing macro photography certainly helps the story).

Thank you for your wonderful contribution to the Nature's Fury Blogathon! <Barry P.https://www.blogger.com/profile/11251536316431708240noreply@blogger.com
