I have never heard one person get as many vibrations into her voice as Barbara got into hers then. It was like a symphony chorus in the Hollywood Bowl instead of just one person speaking.

Mae was right. Barbara Stanwyck could be tough, tender, dramatic, funny, a "broad" or a lady.
ReplyDeleteShe could do all those things, and yet be herself, or at least a certain persona, at the same time. I never felt like she totally disappeared into a part, even though she was capable of such variety.
