Monday Serenade: Ginger Rogers

Here's Ginger Rogers in one of her first starring roles, singing How I Wish I Could Sing a Love Song with Jack Oakie in The Sap From Syracuse (1930). If it weren't for Rogers' distinctive vocal style, you almost wouldn't recognize her. The more familiar wisecracking platinum blonde would emerge just a few years later.

  1. Thanks for sharing. I really want to see this movie, along with Sitting Pretty, but they're pretty difficult to get hold of. I love Ginger when she still had baby fat!

  2. Wasn't she adorable in her early days? I would also love to see this. It's such a bummer to be charmed by a clip and not be able to see the rest.
